Piergiorgio Gay has directed three feature films:
Tre Storie with Sandra Ceccarelli, candidate for the David di Donatello as best debut director in 2000;
Guarda il Cielo with Sandra Ceccarelli, Giuseppe Battiston, and Paolo Pierobon;;
La Forza del Passato with Sergio Rubini and Bruno Ganz, in competition at the 59th Venice Film Festival.
He has worked for the Opera by staging
Jerusalem by G. Verdi and
Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti.
For television he directed three episodes of
La Squadra in 2007.
In 2009, he coordinated video shooting for the theatrical performance of Giuseppe Battiston:
Orson Welles’ Roast.
He has also made various documentaries:
E l’amore?, It's Only Rock'n Roll (but I like Keith) and
Niente Paura with Luciano Ligabue, presented in 2010 at the Venice Film Festival and candidate for the Nastri d’Argento 2011 as best documentary.
He coordinates and is a professor of video design course at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan.
